About Got Mug!
Hi, I’m Jim — owner, maker, and proud founder of Got Mug! in Manton, Michigan.
After more than 34 years in high-end engineering and manufacturing, I decided to pour my heart into something more personal. I now create handmade pottery right here in Northern Michigan.
At Got Mug!, we believe in “Making and Giving.” Every piece is lovingly hand-thrown and crafted in our Manton studio using traditional pottery techniques. From custom mugs and commemorative plates to unique home goods — everything is proudly Made in Michigan.
My family is at the center of everything I do. My wife and I have been married for 32 wonderful years. Together with our daughter Maycie, grandson JP, Jimy, Nick, our rescue kitty Pebbles, and the loving memory of our beloved rescue Chihuahua Squatchy, they inspire me every single day.

A Family Thing
Meet Matt
Hi, I’m Matt — Jim’s brother-in-law and proud Potter-Creator at Got Mug! Pottery Studio.
Right after high school I served in the military, and I’ve been helping build this family business since the beginning. I help with production, packing orders, deliveries, and anything else that needs to get done in the studio.
I love being part of this hands-on family operation and watching Jim’s handmade pottery bring joy to so many people.
When I’m not at the studio, you can find me spending time with family — especially our grandchildren — or enjoying the beautiful outdoors here in Northern Michigan.
